Creativity and Making for Change Series - Craftivism: the making of change
Event box
Art, craft and design have been valuable mediums for social change throughout history. Creative thinking is transdisciplinary and encourages learning and connection through storytelling. In collaboration with MRU’s Maker Studio this series of conversations will focus on hand-ons and brain-ons activities that bring participants to an understanding of how creativity and making has been, and continues to be used to address some of our biggest challenges in society.
This event will introduce participants to craftivism which is a creative practice using craft and making to help make the world a better place. Participants will learn about historical and contemporary practices of craft for social change and will make an intervention in their own community as part of the event.
