What the PUMF are microdata files? Public Use Microdata Files (PUMFs) provide full sets of responses to surveys, allowing you to ask questions that aren’t addressed in standard data tables. Statistics Canada releases PUMFs for a relatively small number of the agency’s surveys, but they can be extraordinarily valuable for addressing specific or unique topics. In this 30 minute presentation, we’ll discuss how you can obtain PUMFs for Statistics Canada’s flagship surveys, available file formats, and how you can begin analyzing microdata.
