I am Ayan Ahmed-Aden, an Anthropology student at MRU. I am part of the Catamount fellowship and will be leading the community Conversation. l am looking for people to share their experiences with the education system. Your contribution is highly valuable, and I plan to share my final scholarly work with you all in May. Your discussion will help me enhance my research on this topic, but I will not publish any conversations. 

As a black student myself, I faced systemic discrimination in the education system. I understand how the education system treats individuals from diverse ethnocultural communities and the challenges and barriers they face to pursuing higher education. This event aims to open dialogue about the Black and Racialized youth experiences in post-secondary education. The goal is to find strategies to increase their participation in post-secondary education.

We will discuss These three questions in an open dialogue at this event.

1. What are the barriers that prevent Black and Racialized youth from participating in post-secondary?  
2. What can the education system and university do to support students interested in pursuing post-secondary education?
3. What changes do you recommend for secondary education, and how can those changes be implemented?

The event will be 2 hours long, and food and drinks will be provided. I believe that this dialogue can help to create a supportive educational environment for Blacks and the Racialized people. Collectively, we can develop strategies to push for change in the education system. This conversation will provide increased empathy and create more actions toward creating a welcoming educational environment for all.
