Narrative-style CVs are part of a broader shift in how research contributions, impact, mentorship, collaboration, and career context are assessed. They are not required across all competitions yet, but pilots and guidance are already emerging across Canada. Preparing now can help researchers avoid a rushed rewrite later and strengthen how they describe the value of their work across grants, annual reports, tenure and promotion materials, award nominations, and research profiles.

Join Yvonne Kjorlien, Grants Facilitator, and Francine May, Associate Dean, Research, Library, for a practical session on what narrative CVs are, why research assessment is changing, where narrative CVs are beginning to appear, and how to start preparing using work you already do. The session will introduce a simple structure for turning existing materials into reusable, evidence-based contribution statements.
