SUMMARY:Introduction to Beadwork
DESCRIPTION:Join artist and archivist Alexandra Tremblay for a hands-on\,
beginner-friendly introduction to beadwork in the Maker Studio.\n\nBorn and
raised in Calgary on Treaty 7 territory\, Alexandra is of French-Canadian
and Innu heritage with deep family roots in Québec\, and has been adopted
into the Piikani Nation\, where she was transferred the name Seen From Afar
Woman. Her approach to beadwork is grounded in respect for cultural
teachings and making as a form of knowledge-sharing.\n\nDesigned for
participants with little to no prior beading experience\, this workshop
invites curiosity and openness while engaging with beadwork as a meaningful
cultural practice within a framework of listening\, respect\, and
reconciliation. Participants will create a beaded lanyard using accessible
techniques at a comfortable pace.\n\nAll materials are provided. Bring
curiosity\, patience and an open mind!
