In partnership with Wellness Services, join us in the Maker Studio for this hands-on workshop to learn more about period poverty, menstrual equity and cloth pad making. This workshop will focus on how period poverty impacts those who menstruate and teach you how to make your own cloth pads, a more sustainable option that can be washed and reused. At the end of the workshop, you can either keep the pads you helped make or donate them to SAMRU’s Care Cupboards on campus.
Note: all materials in this workshop will be supplied. Participants can bring their own fabric if they choose, however pads created with personal materials will not be eligible for donation.
For those who are unfamiliar with sewing, we recommend taking Sewing Machine: The Basics - Making a Tote Bag (beginner) to become familiar with the sewing machine.
